01. A Massive Return 02. Set List
|
We checked out of the
hotel at 12 noon and the valise brought the bus around the front with Charlie in it. I
left to find a bank, walked around Canal Street area for a while then proceeded to the
club, a second night at Coney Island High. We rehearsed with Carly during the soundcheck.
She did ok, this was going to be Alvins last show on the tour, it was very sad. As
the crowd poured in, another packed house, we realized a guitar was missing! The Varukas
were one of the opening bands, the guitarist was very kind in telling me I was his
inspiration to play in a band, and if it wasnt for the Subs he would have never gone
to Europe, USA or Japan. That was nice of him to tell me that. Our show was great! Totally different from the previous night. Charlie was sober, really on form. When hes like this he puts to shame most front men in their 20s, and hes well into his 50s. The show was chaos. We played with all the energy that we had in the 1970s. The audience was the best of the tour so far, with even a half naked blond woman jumping all over the stage. When we were breaking down the gear, Drew ran up to the stage with the missing guitar. It had been in its case sitting in the middle of the floor through the entire show. Two Subs fans turned it in after the show. Charlies UK agent, Steve Toxin, came along and we drove out of Manhattan in heavy rain and I slept in the bus. |
